 About Jana Longacre, LCSW, LIMHP

EMDR & Trauma Therapist

After raising my two sons, I decided to go back to school to pursue social work. I realized that a lot of my gifts, talents, and ways I love to interact with people were leading me toward the counseling field. I graduated in 2007 with a Master's in Social Work from Arizona State University.

In Arizona, I worked with children in crisis for 8 years, then with adults who have experienced trauma. I moved to the heartland in 2019, and now focus on supporting adults to move through difficult experiences to create fuller, more joyful lives.

I live with my husband, Randy, in Columbus. I love working with clay and crocheting.

I provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy to adults who have experienced trauma in their lives and feel stuck or unable to move forward. This type of therapy enables the brain to process emotions, images, sensations and negative beliefs about themselves which are connected with unprocessed trauma.

I have recently affiliated with GracePoint Relational Health. Our new offices are located in downtown Columbus.

Why EMDR?

PTSD & Trauma

EMDR therapy doesn't require talking in detail about the distressing issue. It allows the brain to resume its natural healing process, and often more quickly than other psychotherapies.

Depression

Because of the focus on shifting negative beliefs and building coping skills, EMDR can be highly effective for depression.

Anxiety

EMDR is not just talk therapy. It also helps to support the nervous system, which plays a large role in anxiety and panic attacks.

Grief & Loss

Grief often functions like trauma in the brain. EMDR can support those who are grieving find more peace and hope for the future.

Sexual Abuse

EMDR can support survivors and allow them to move forward into healthy relationships.

Stress

Stress affects all of us at some point in our lives. EMDR therapy can support those going through a difficult time, even if it doesn't feel quite like a traumatic experience.
